Italy has always been associated with naturalism, as expressed in their baroque art which was greatly influenced by the nude human body. In a 2006 law, Italy designated certain beaches as places where nudity is legal. The law requires that such beaches have signs stating that they are. Therefore, avoid going nude on a public, overcrowded beach if you do not want to pay a fine. But once again, there’s plenty of beautiful beaches out there where you can image yourself being in a painting of Michelangelo.
